Soaring Temperature?

The next heat wave is on the way but have the cricket season temperatures of the locality really soared this year.

Based on the Met Office temperatures recorded at Sutton Bonnington, the average daily maximum temperature during May, June, July and August going back to 1980 is shown on the graph below.

The trend line indicates that the average has risen over time from just below 19 degrees celcius in the 1980s to just over 21.

The 2026 average of 22.8 obviously doesn't include August but when it can be calculated I imagine it will be going up even higher.

We never know how things like this will change - it may be that we see Soar temperatues see-saw!
