Saturday 8th August
1st XI at home to Attenborough CC 3rd XI - Won by 92 Runs
A pretty comprehensive win for the 1s with the daunting total of 225 for 8 being built relatively gradually over the innings. It started with the best opeing partnership of the season between Sam Charlton 22 and Adam James, who ended up with 60 (9 4s). Callum Gilbert, making his first appearance for three seasons, hit 20 and there was some strong hitting later in the innings from Chris Hudson (31 with 1 four and 3 sixes) and Jake Benson (25 with 3 4s and a six).
The visitors reply started really badly slumping to 9 for 3 and then losing three more wickets all with the score on 63. There was a slight recovery later in the innings but they were dismissed for 132. Mark Sampson was the top wicket taker with 4 for 29.
A great win in a closely fought game for the 2s at Fiskerton against Wollaton. After being put in to bat we slipped to 33 for 4 before Ethan Riddle came to the crease. He crucially hit 57 from only 52 balls with 11 4s a six. Ethan's 7th wicket partnership of 41 with Neil Gelder, who finished with 24, is the highest this season.
The reply for the home side saw the first two wickets fall without a run on the board and then as the score reached 64 for 3 they were probably looking favourites to win. Gladly more wickets fell and despite some late runs they eventually fell just 17 short of the victory. Toby Gower with 3 for 18 and Nigel Barrett with 3 for 38 did the majority of the damage.
A wonderful win that is similar in so many ways to the 1st XI's win at the same venue last week.
Callum Vanderwalt was the Badgers' star of the show in the game hitting an amazing 72 with 13 4s out of the team's total of 104 for 6. This was his third half-century of the season and his highest score for the team. Chapeau to him!
The home side rapidly reached the target with Oliver James taking the only wicket to fall.
