1st XI away at Wollaton CC 3rd XI (Fiskerton) - Won by 10 Runs

What a stunning and exciting win came for the 1s after a bit of a disastrous start. After losing the second wicket with only one on the board there was something of a recovery as Gopi Duggirala with 23 and a defense focused and determined Sam Charlton added some important runs.  However things fell away and we found ourselves at 80 for 8 but then Jake Benson, who finished unbeaten with 22, and Ethan Riddle put together another crucial partnership to get the score past the 100 mark.

Chasing just 107 for a win, Wollaton were probably fairly confident at the start of the reply but challenging long opening spells from Jake Benson (2 - 27) and Gopi Duggirala (3-29) put them under some pressure as they fell to 60 for 5.  Then though they recovered well to reach 95 for 7 before Nick Proverbs came into the attack.  He claimed 2 wickets, including the one of their top scorer, and was also key in a vital combination run out with Gopi.  Nick recorded his best 1st XI bowling with 2 for 8 and Harley Riddle took his first wicket for the team.  With just 10 runs needed the deciding wicket came as a massively high hit went down towards Adam James near the long-on boundary.  The tension built even more as the ball came down and there was then deep joy and excitement as the catch was taken.

A wonderful win!

2nd XI at home to Bingham CC 3rd XI - Lost by 31 Runs

A tough test for the 2s in facing 2nd in the league Bingham.  Batting first the visitors set a hard target by reaching 212 from their 36 overs.  Nick Duggirala hit a new team best with 3 for 38 and their were a couple of wickets each for Will Cousins and Billy Jackson.

Unfortunately we couldn't quite match the required run rate even though we still managed over 5 an over for the full batting points.  Simon Widdison hit 76 off 63 balls with 12 4s and one 6, while Nick Duggirala with a great all-rounder game was left on 34 not out.

Shame about the result but a really good team performance.

3rd XI at home to Coddington & Winthorpe CC 2nd XI - Lost by 106 Runs

There was also a tricky game for the 3s against near top-of-the-table Coddington & Winthorpe. They put together a huge 223 for 6 in only 32 overs.  Many thanks to the loan players that helped ensure the game was on and it was one loanee, Joseph Powell-Perry, who took the most wickets with 2 for 49.

The reply was always going to be a struggle and no one managed to score a score, although there were new team bests for Ben Park, Harry Bradley and Kelly James.  Reaching 117, 3 batting points were secured making 5 bonuses in total - a decent return from the game.
