Moving into the Top 10

As we move into the final month of the season I thought it may be worth checking the stats for Player / Team / Year.  Who has already made it into the top 10 recorded in Play-Cricket and how close are they to getting to rising to Number One.

Obviously this all dependent on the accuracy and completeness of what's been entered into Play-Cricket.

Players moving between teams within a season also potentially makes a big difference.  With this in mind the numbers for a season irrespective of which Saturday team they played for will be coming later.

Runs

Gopi Duggirala, quite unsurpisingly, is already in 9th.  He has scored 518 runs for the 1st XI in league and cup games although he will still need another 218 to catch up to Steve Weightman's 736 in 1998.

For the 3rd team Callum Vanderwalt is in third place with 297 needing 80 more to match Tony Downie's 377 in 2004. 

Sixes

Gopi Duggirala's hitting power sees him in third position with 25 sixes, he sits below Haider Khan in 2021 and 2018 with 31 and 30 respectively.

Fours

Richard Wells, whilst not appearing yet in the Runs category, has hit the 6th highest number of 4s for the 1s with 69.  The top three places are all occupied by Steve Weightman whose highest was 111 in 1998.

Callum Vanderwalt has struck 27 fours so far this season to put him third for the 3s.  Nick Proverbs sits top of the list with 40 in 2010.

Wickets

The only one appearing in the top 10 for any team so far is Sam Clay.  His 13 wickets for the 3rd XI sees him in 6th with 7 more needed to equal Trevor Smith's 20 in 2003.

Maidens

Nobody there yet which may reflect how cricket's approach to scoring runs has changed over the years.

Fielder Catches

Richard Wells's 13 catches for the 1st XI puts him second behind Adam Pick's 19 in 2017.

Neil Gelder has 9 for the 2nd XI just 1 behind Nick Proverbs' 10 in 2011

Simon Vanderwalt has 4 for the 3s and needs a couple more to catch Nick Proverbs (again!) in 2010.

Keeper Victims

Harry Young with 4 for the 3rd XI is the only top 10er for now.  He sits in 4th behind Jack Towers' 11 in 2014.

Run Outs

Joshua James and Mark Sampson both have 2 for the 1st XI putting them in second place along with plenty of others.  Nathan Udall sits atop the list with 4 recorded in 2022.

The 2nd XI also has 2 from 2 from Jack Phillips and Tom Pollard.  Ethan Riddle, Matthew Colson and Jacob Taylor top the list with 3.
